Fring Launches Video VoIP for Mobile Phones

From the NY Times Fring, which started out offering a VoIP client for mobile phones has added the ability to make and receive video calls from mobile phones, letting you see your friends as you talk to them - for free.

As with the VoIP client, you have to be a Fring user, or "fringster," as CEO Avi Schechter calls them, to download the video client. Fringsters can then talk to friends outside of Fring via various services, including Skype, Twitter, Facebook, last.fm, Google Talk, and AIM through a combined friend list. Fring makes money through banner ads and other advertising mechanisms.

Schechter says the ads are not very intrusive. Fringsters can use the mobile client to live chat, update profiles, and share files.

Pirated Windows 7 selling like hotcakes

Friday, November 20, 2009

from the INQUIRER.net  11/19/2009  MANILA, Philippines - As always, software pirates have found a new market  for selling a "crack" version of Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system.  But instead of just selling the cracked beta version, full retail versions  have hit the streets.

The cracked full version cost around P100 for the Windows 7 Home Premium, P120 for the Professional, and P150 for the Ultimate. The packaging contains logos stating that these are full versions, although these were obviously printed out en masse.  Continue reading here http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/infotech/view/20091119-237202/Pirated-Windows-7-selling-like-hotcakes

November 17, 2009 from the NY Times  The debate over Droid v. iPhone rages on, but lots more Android surprises are on the way. Get ready for the Google Phone. It's no longer a myth, it's real.

The next "super" Android device will almost certainly be a HTC phone that's much thinner than even the Droid or iPhone - The Dragon/Passion. This is the phone the senior Android guys at Google are now carrying around and testing,  at least as of a couple of weeks ago. If you're willing to give up the Droid's keyboard, the Dragon/Passion is going to be a really cool phone. It should be fully available very soon.  Continue reading the complete story here along with many interesting viewer responses and comments
